In Good Company

The Company of We Pop-Up is now open through then end of the year at 37 Cornelia Street, (347) 391-3482.

Christopher Crawford and Jayzel Samonte started Company of We a little over a year ago from their downtown Manhattan apartment. Launched initially as an online-only boutique, the boys, 30 and 28 respectively, watched as their playful toggle coats and double-breasted captain’s jackets gained a virtual following, only to be later snatched up by the likes of Saks Fifth Avenue. This month, the designers opened up a pop-up shop in the West Village, where they are manning the registers, meeting their customers face to face for the first time. “It breathes life into our digital roots,” Crawford said of the earthy, masculine space. The shop also serves as a platform to introduce the Company of We’s women’s capsule collection, featuring easy SCARPE NIKE SHOX, ladylike confections like an elongated dinner jacket with metallic detailing and a pastel pleated skirt. The couple’s first foray into women’s wear channels both the interior designer Kelly Wearstler (“She was a Playboy Playmate, has impeccable taste and is now filthy rich,” says Samonte) as well as friend and fashion journalist SCARPE NIKE SHOX, Meenal Mistry SCARPE NIKE SHOX, (“Stylish, slightly mysterious, intelligent and aspirational,” says Crawford). And as for sharing a life as well as a business? “The New Yorker and Bravo’s ‘Real Housewives’ can be the perfect high-low distraction,” Samonte says with a laugh.
